Staycation at The InterContinental Wharf D.C.

Time away is a luxury I can't afford at the moment so when I needed to take a break I do a staycation. Thanks to The Intercontinental DC Wharf that I am able to have a mini vacation while still being close to all my responsibilities. The InterContinental sits at the heart of The Wharf in DC, which is a mile-long stretch of retailers, restaurants, residences, and businesses along the Potomac River.
Mornings are better at the Wharf.
THE LOBBY
Walking in to the lobby I noticed the view of the Potomac river right away, the large floor to ceiling windows flooded the room with natural light, and the decors were absolutely stunning. The staff were very friendly and the check in was easy.

That's Mr. Michael High (the Chief Concierge) manning the front desk.
Game of a giant chess never hurt nobody.
Look at them grand floor to ceiling windows and beautiful light fixtures!
Found another cool spot at the lobby.
THE ROOM
My room was very spacious with a nice view of DC (and its monuments), La Vie, and The Anthem. I had a large bed with usb and outlets on both sides. Yes! I can plug my devices no matter which side I'm facing which is very important. There was a working area, plenty of storage spaces, including a large closet complete with a sliding door that doubles as a mirror.

Ah, this life giving machine.

Who doesn't like late night snacks?
THE BATHROOM
My bathroom had a large vanity mirror, a tub, and a large shower. Also, gotta love the toiletries. I used them exclusively during my stay and I got new ones every day.
I need more of these little fellas.
Took a lot of selfies here.
Your selfie game on this giant vanity mirror will significantly improve. Trust me.

KITH & KIN
The restaurant Kith & Kin offered some of the best drinks I've ever had in DC thanks to the amazing bartender Dimitre. The entrance is literally connected to the lobby so it's hard to miss. The executive chef Kwame Onwuachi curated an amazing selection of dishes inspired by his mother's home-cooked meal and all the places he's been. Check out some of the stuff we ordered.
New drink by the bartender Dimitre.
Cucumber and Avocado: Goose Berry Piri Piri, Marinated Cucumber, and Puffed Quinoa.
Cheese and Charcuterie: Assorted Cheeses and Charcuterie with Accompaniments.
Braised Oxtails: Jasmine Rice, Pigeon Peas, Glazed Carrots.
Bay Leaf Ice Cream: Pumpkin Seeds.
Breakfast at Kith & Kin.
The drinks at this place are incredible.
WORLD CLASS SERVICE
Room service for breakfast never looked this good. Order at night and a staff will prepare your breakfast, deliver, and set it up the next day at your preferred time.
Breakfast with a view? Why not!
Served with any beverage you prefer.
Complete meal with grain, protein, and fruits.
THE GYM
The mornings were quiet and I easily enjoyed a quick work out at their gym. Also, with a nice view of the Potomac river of course. They have a spa right beside the gym, but I didn't get a chance to try it. The rooftop and the pool were close for the fall season so I didn't get to see it, but I heard good things.

Plenty of thread mill.
Peloton bikes are my go to.
More weight options for lifters.
EXTRA
Just steps outside the Intercontinental you can enjoy and discover the dining scene at the Wharf, catch a show at the Anthem, do some sightseeing cruises, explore Pearl Street, check out the Maine Avenue Fish Market, the night life, and many many more.
Pearl Street.
District Pier.
Thanks again to Intercontinental at the Wharf DC for accommodating us. Will definitely return for another staycation.
A nice touch.
Thanks for reading,
Sam Sayo
